When Sufjan Stevens’ “Come On, Feel the Illinoise” (check his profile at asthmatic kitty) album released in the summer of 2005 I paid no mind to the legions of people wearing “Illinoise” shirts around U of I at the time, assuming it was some kind of fashion trend. What a mistake I made! It wasn’t until the following winter that I was introduced to his amazing songwriting ability. Since then I have practically worn out his Michigan and Avalanche albums. The thought of a dance-oriented mix of any of his tracks was the furthest thing from my mind, but DC-located trancers the Signalrunners (myspace) had the foresight to pump up the lead single “Chicago” of the Illinois album. Asthmatic Kitty refused to release the rights on the original an remix official release, but I was able to get my mitts on a copy and figured I would spread the magic. Enjoy!

I heard that Above & Beyond opened with this one when they played Vision in Chicago this past year — golden.
